We’re excited to announce that beginning January 27, 2026, all Top-Down Bottom-Up (TDBU) Natural Shade orders will include a Top Bar Grip designed to improve comfort and control during everyday operation.
The Top Bar Grip ships in two pieces and installs effortlessly on the top rail, accommodating a wide range of fabric thicknesses. With its integrated handle, the Top Bar Grip allows the shade to be easily lifted or lowered by hand, and for tall windows, it can be paired with a Lift Assist Pole (sold separately) for added reach and convenience. Please note that the Top Bar Grip is designed specifically for Natural TDBU shades and is not compatible with Fabric Roman TDBU shades.

We have several collection updates launching December 30, 2025! Follow the link below for more details on each update.
We are excited to announce a specification improvement for motorized shades ordered from the Inspired Shade Natural Shade Collection. Starting December 30th, 2025, all motors except Power Lift will use a hardware system that fits on a 1½" head rail. This includes motors from the Inspired Shades and Smart Home Collection motor programs.
With this system change, the motors themselves remain exactly the same, maintaining their programming and operating instructions. What’s new is the hardware system that attaches the motor to the headrail. This updated design is more compact, allowing our motors to fit on a 1½ inch head rail. The 1½" headrail is perfect for installations where space is limited, like inside shallow window frames. Because the system is more compact, it also helps contribute to a quieter motorized experience. Montauk black (um-2104)Montauk Black (UM-2104) from our Inspired Natural Shade Collection has been discontinued for new orders due to fabric quality issues. Note: this fabric is not included in the 2025 Inspired Shades Natural Shade sample book. If you are working from our previous book version, we ask that you discard the fabric from your sampling. 2025 collection updateDon't forget, the Natural Shade Collection was updated earlier this year with a new sample book and several new fabric options!
If you have not updated your sampling to the new book version, we recommend updating to have the most current version of the program. >> View the Collection Updates >> Order the Updated Sample Book We are excited to announce that Standard and Extended depth returns will be available for outside mount shades on October 1, 2025. There are no changes to the option or specification for inside mount shades.
Visit our YouTube channel to learn more about this update or continue reading below. >> Watch Extended Returns Explained Standard depth returns are made to the depth of the head rail. Extended depth returns are made slightly deeper than the head rail and help close the gap between the wall and the back of the shades. To allow extended returns to fit properly to the shade valance and return back to the wall, we will change the way outside mount shades are made:

When specifying, note that the Natural Drapery will include decorative track with your choice of rounded or rectangular profile. Because draperies install using a decorative track, valances are not needed for this product. Natural material is railroaded to hang vertically when ordered in this style. Draperies require edge binding, which is sewn to all four sides to protect the edges and is included in the price of the drape. Natural draperies are constructed using wave tape. Hooks attach to carriers, which glide smoothly in a traversing track while maintaining their structure when being opened and closed. Natural Draperies are made with 150% fullness. Note: Natural Draperies are being added as a replacement for Folding Doors. See Folding Door Discontinuation at the bottom of this post for more details. Opening OptionsDecorative TrackTracks have been specially sourced for this product to ensure smooth operation. Tracks are included in the price of the drapery. Rounded and Square profiles are available in six color options. Folding Door DiscontinuationNatural Draperies will be replacing our Folding Door product starting October 1, 2025. We are no longer able to source the component parts for Folding Doors, and have brought in Natural Draperies as an elevated replacement.
Folding Doors have been removed from our product guides and will be removed from your ordering system starting October 1, 2025. We have found that several fabrics in the Natural Shade Collection are not suitable for making sliding panels. Some of the fabrics on the list below are too soft to maintain their structure in this style while others are too thick for the panels to pass without catching when operating. As a result, we have removed these fabrics from your ordering system for that style. Our product guide and 2025 Natural Shade sample book have also had these fabrics noted as unavailable for this option.
Many of the finely woven fabrics or fabrics with open weaves in the Inspired Shades Natural Shade Collection require edge binding to protect the edge of the shade and keep the shade fabric from fraying over time. We understand that Edge Binding may not be a suitable style choice for all design aesthetics, so we've added Edge Seal as a new solution to protect the edges of shades. Edge Seal is used on select fabrics when ordered without edge binding. See below for the list of fabrics using this option when not using edge binding. Edge Seal is a non-adhesive tape applied to the back left and right edges of select shade fabrics. It is also applied to the valance of standard shades. Edge Seal is transparent once applied, but it may be slightly visible from the back and front of the shade, especially if the shade is unlined. It will be more visible on darker fabrics than on lighter fabrics. Available FabricsEdge Seal is only used on the fabrics listed below if they are not ordered with edge binding. These fabrics no longer require edge binding to maintain the warranty for frayed edges. Please note, some fabrics in the collection have continued with the edge binding requirement, as all weaves and materials are not suitable to pair with Edge Seal.
INSIDE MOUNT TOP-DOWN BOTTOM-UP SHADESThanks to your valuable feedback and a close look at remake trends, we've made an important update designed to benefit both you and your customers. We've taken steps to help avoid common issues and streamline your experience.
Effective July 1, 2025, Inside Mount Top-Down Bottom-Up shades will no longer be available to order with returns. This update is being made to help avoid the larger light gaps that can occur on either side of the shade when returns are used for an inside mount. If returns are needed for an inside mount Top-Down Bottom-Up shade, please order it as outside mount with returns and subtract 1" from the overall width to allow for a 1/2" deduction on each side of the shade. This change will be reflected in your most recent Inspired Natural Shade product guide, and a warning will also appear in the ordering system to help prevent errors going forward. |
